Hidden in Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans, is ‘The Secret to Being More than a Conqueror‘. In this post, I take time to unpack this powerful secret for you.
God is For You
‘God is for you’, is the first and basic foundation of your being ‘More than a Conqueror’ (Romans 8:29-39). This is supported by the fact that God had an advance knowledge of you as a person (Ephesians 1:3-14 and Jeremiah 1:5). This is because He is Alpha (beginning) and Omega (end).
Thus, He made your end to be conformity with the image of Christ, that is, Christ-likeness (Galatians 4:19). And this is the case for all human beings. In addition, He called, justified and glorified you.
”To be justified is to be taught about your calling (purpose) (Genesis 22:1-18 and 2 Peter 1:5-10)
Christ-likeness, Calling, Justification, and Glorification, are more than enough proof that ‘God is for you’. Therefore, in light of this, no one can be against you (they can only rise against you); no one can condemn you; and no one or nothing can separate you from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus.
In addition, Christ is continually interceding for you. And all these things, are what makes you to be ‘More than a Conqueror’ through God’s love.
The Secret to Being More than a Conqueror: God’s Mercy
‘God’s mercy‘ is the second foundation and secret of being ‘More than a Conqueror’. Interestingly, just as not all church-goers are Christians, not all Christians are ‘More than Conquerors’.
This is true due to God’s mercy. In other words, God’s mercy on you or a people is His preserve or prerogative (Romans 9:1-18).
Apostle Paul had great sorrow and unending anguish in his heart because of his fellow Israelites. Despite their being beneficiaries of great things like adoption to son-ship; divine glory; the covenants; the law; temple worship; the promises; the patriarchs; and the human ancestry of the Messiah, not all of them were regarded as Abraham’s (children). This was all because of God’s mercy.
God’s mercy, which is, His (resurrection) power, as recorded in Ephesians 1:3-20, is manifest where His election (call) is. And where God’s election is, there you will find His purpose (for you).
Thus, purpose, which is the area in which you are meant to conquer, is by election. It is not by (self) righteousness (works).
”If you discover what you are meant to do, especially with God’s mercy (power), then God will show you mercy (or give you power) as the end is to be a vessel of mercy. And the sure way to discovering your purpose is through seeking the kingdom where your election is hidden (Matthew 6:33). This will in turn open you up to the realm of ‘Conquer-ship’ (Dominion).
Faith works effectively in election
In addition, faith works effectively in election (calling or purpose) (Romans 9:27-10:3). This is because that no man in his/her purpose is lacks provision (Luke 22:35).
Under the principle of election, one can decree (command or declare) a thing, and it will be established (affirmed). This is in accordance with the text in Job 22:26-28 (Romans 12:3 and Luke 19:28-35).
However, this is only applicable to the ‘circumcised’ (Ephesians 1:15-21). The ‘uncircumcised’ can decree, but the decree will not be established. This is because decrees are based on what you’ve heard (or seen). They are not to be confused with continuous repetition of text(s) from Scripture.
This was the case for both Moses (Exodus 7:11-12) and Christ (John 2:1-10). Moses was instructed (by God) on how to use his rod while Jesus instructed the servants on what to do. Thus, these two examples demonstrate that loving God is also obeying God (John 14:21).
