We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.

Psalm 78:4New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 78:4 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

Tell of the Lord’s Deeds

In Psalm 78:4, the Psalmist instructed the Israelites to “Tell of the Lord’s praiseworthy deeds!” For God’s deeds were not meant to be hidden from their children or the next generation. And the way they were to do this was to tell them of His praiseworthy deeds in the history of their nation.

You too are not meant to hide God’s deeds from your children. For God’s deeds to you are a wealthy inheritance to your children.

Like any other inheritance, your faith in God is valuable and also transferable to your children (2 Timothy 1:5-6). And the passing on of your faith is as simple as telling the good that the Lord has ever done to you.

The telling of the Lord’s praiseworthy deeds does not require any formalities or presentation styles. God’s deeds can be narrated to the small ones, and they will be able to understand.

Note or remember that the training of your child is a major part of your noble parental responsibility. And the telling of God’s deeds is a vital part of this huge responsibility.

Prayer

Lord God, please help me be a better parent or elder who will tell all of Your praiseworthy deeds. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
