So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;

1 Corinthians 15:42New International Version (NIV)

1 Corinthians 15:42 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

The Resurrection

As incomprehensible as it is, resurrection from the dead is a future reality according to 1 Corinthians 15:42. And the resurrection body will be a transformed body.

To make this comprehensible, the apostle Paul used an agricultural analogy. He revealed that the seed planted in the ground dies first (it is perishable) before it germinates into a plant. And this plant takes a different form (body) from the seed. Similarly, your resurrected body will take a different form from your present (earthly) body (it will be imperishable).

Again, similarly, death will “plant” our bodies into the ground. Later, God will “germinate” (raise) our new (different) bodies.

Prayer

Lord God, I bless your Name even as I look forward to the resurrection. Thank you for your wonderful plan for my life. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.

Prayer to Receive and Believe in Jesus Christ

Lord God, I desire to experience your resurrection. Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner who is separated from you. I am truly sorry and would like to turn away from my sinful past to you. Please forgive me of my sins and keep me away from temptation and sin.

I believe Your only Son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is alive. Therefore, I invite you Jesus to come into my life and become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey you, and to do your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
