”For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

You Were Rescued
Colossians 1:13-14 says that God has rescued you and me from the control of darkness. He has redeemed you from the power of darkness (sin and spiritual ignorance), into His kingdom that is under the authority of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is He who is the means of your redemption (for you could not redeem yourself).
In this redemption of you, God has forgiven your sins. There is now no room for:
- covering up sin or the shame of it,
- denying sin,
- blaming God or another person for sin,
- attacking the “sins” of others,
- comparing your sin “to those of others”,
- rationalizing sin, or
- avoiding sin.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, I thank You for the gift of my redemption. I humbly ask that You empower me to live a life that is worthy of Your glorious redemption. This is my prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
