”He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Revelation 21:4New International Version (NIV)
Revelation 21:4 Devotional
He will wipe every tear
“He will wipe every tear” (Revelation 21:4) is one of the things that the apostle John wrote about concerning the second coming of Jesus Christ. John specifically wrote about the newness that God will bring about when He will wipe every tear from the eyes of His people.
Therefore, Christians continue to wait with great hope for the current age of the Church to come to an end with the return of Jesus. Because a look at the injustice, depravity, pain, and suffering in our fallen world which has been ruled for a long time by the evil one causes the heart to cry out like the saints in heaven who cried, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood” (Revelation 6:10).
Consequently, the promise in Revelation chapter 21 verse 4 is trustworthy. It is full of hope that this world is passing and the next one will be nothing like it – we eagerly wait with the whole creation for all things to be made right (Romans 8:22).
There will be no death in the new heaven and earth. Therefore, there will be no mourning, no crying, or pain in that age.
Nevertheless, God is able to bring about a new order in your life even today. This is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Therefore, God will start making everything about you new by wiping away your tears of grief, pain, or regret. If He can do it then, He can do it for you now.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, You are the God who makes and will make everything new. I pray that You wipe my tears and make me new. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
May God wipe every tear away! Amen.
