”If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9 Devotion
How to get saved
Romans 10:9 reveals the simple formula of how to get saved. You have to declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
Therefore, salvation is as easy as this. Yes, simple, yet profound!
Jesus has done everything for you and me. Not one thing was left undone by Him. There is, therefore, nothing left to do except to receive this new life offered through Him.
Declare with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord”
Salvation starts with confessing that “Jesus is Lord”. You make this confession from your heart.
This, therefore, means that you must be convinced that Jesus is the Son of God. That He was no ordinary human being; He was fully divine and fully human.
Therefore, your confession of “Jesus is Lord” should be based on the conviction that Jesus is the Lord of all creation, men included. And acknowledge that there is no other way to be reconciled to God the Father apart from Jesus. For this then will agree with Peter’s declaration in Acts 4:12 that “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
When you make this confession, you will be trusting in Him alone to justify you and to bring you into fellowship with God. You will be inviting Jesus to become your Lord.
Consequently, your confession of salvation comprises making public (or declaring or acknowledging or admitting) your relationship with Christ (as Your Lord) and committing to the same (Matthew 10:32-33). This is the verbal evidence of receiving God’s saving grace through Christ in your life.
Believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead
Finally, you must believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. You must trust that God raised Jesus from death. This is what Paul and Silas conveyed to the Philippian jailer when he asked them “what he must do to be saved?” They told him that “he had to believe in the Lord Jesus, and he would be saved” (Acts 16:30-31).
Therefore, remember, Jesus died for the sins of all men because all men are sinners right from birth (Romans 3:23, 5:12 and Psalm 51:5). And sinners are deserving of death for the penalty of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
Consequently, Jesus died so that sin can no longer have power over those whom God justifies. Only Jesus can save you and me from the penalty of sin because He is infinite and eternal – God became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ, got born and lived among us, and ministered to us.
But His people rejected Him and His message till they finally had Him crucified. Of course, He willingly offered Himself to death for us – He allowed Himself to be crucified (John 10:15). And He was the perfect and complete payment for our sin when He took our place (1 John 2:2) – we are the ones deserving to die for sin.
Nevertheless, God raised Jesus from death. Therefore, believing this is how you are justified just as Abraham was. That is, you gain the right standing before God – it is like “you never sinned”.
Prayer
Therefore, if you have never trusted in Jesus as your Savior, it is my prayer today that you will trust in Him. Thus, you will find Salvation. He alone, as outlined in this verse, can save you.
Pray this:
Jesus, according to Romans 10:9, I confess with my heart that You are Lord. And I believe with my heart that you died for my sins and God raised You thereafter.
Thank You for bearing my judgment and shedding Your blood on the cross for me. I am grateful that You died for me and forgave me of all my sins.
Therefore, I repent of my ways and turn to You right now to take Your Lordship’s position in my life. And I confess this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Blessing
May you confess and believe that “Jesus is Lord, who God raised from death”. Amen.
