”You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

The God who performs miracles
Psalm 77:14 contains the words “The God who performs miracles” as the testimony of God’s display of power among the people. And these words are the Psalmist’s (Asaph’s) conclusion to his meditations on the deeds of God.
But for Asaph to arrive at this conclusion, he went through the journey described below. He, therefore, started with his anxiety which made him call God in his distress. But God didn’t answer him (verses 1-2).
God’s dealings with His people
Consequently, he thought about God’s dealings with him, and he became more distressed. And God prevented him from getting sleep (verses 3-4).
Therefore, as he lay in bed, he meditated on God’s past deeds (verses 5-6). But God still didn’t come through for him (verses 7-10). And Asaph’s thoughts moved beyond his troubles to God’s deeds in the history of Israel.
God’s love and power in His miracles
Consequently, Asaph realized that God’s deeds proved His love and power (verses 11-15). This was so when Asaph meditated on the Israelites’ crossing of the Red Sea and God’s meeting with Israel at Mt. Sinai (verses 16-19). And these deeds by God during the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt were wonders that no man can/could match.
They are, therefore, miracles that surprised men of that time and continue to do so today. And this is due to the realization of the greatness of the power revealed in them – God’s greatness is in His deeds (miracles) which are supernatural.
Therefore, Asaph concluded that God’s way is holy and He is great and none can compare to Him – God’s deeds reveal a power that none can match. He also concluded that God was still the Shepherd of His people (verse 20). And all this was courtesy of what he observed in the deeds of God.
Meditating on God’s deeds
Consequently, meditating on God’s deeds can boost your faith. When Asaph mediated on God’s deeds, especially the ones concerning the Exodus, he moved from despair in God (verse 10), to a triumphant declaration about Him (verse 13) – these deeds include the 10 plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, provision water and manna, the pillar and cloud, and the sun standing still.
Therefore, when you meditate on God’s deeds, you will see the manifestation of power that no one else can wield or rival. These are the deeds (revelations) that have convinced people for centuries that God is a performer of miracles. And this is because manifestations of God’s power are supernatural events that are also convincing – “supernatural” simply means power that no one cannot rival since it accomplishes things that no one can.
Moreover, God is still in the business of making His might known among the people (Ephesians 3:20) – Jesus also did. Don’t make your way to the people who deny God’s power (Acts 4:15-17).
Prayer/Blessing/Exhortation
May continue believing God for that miracle that you have been desiring. God will do the supernatural in your situation. Amen.
