Galatians 3:28 Devotional (Verse of the Day)
Galatians 3:28 concludes Paul’s argument about salvation by faith, not by the works of the law. He had just finished saying that anyone who belongs to Christ is Abraham’s seed and an heir to God’s promise. Then he says something truly revolutionary for his time—and ours: there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
”There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:28New International Version (NIV)
One in Christ
In a world divided by labels—race, gender, status, tribe, denomination—it’s easy to forget that God’s kingdom runs on a different system. But tucked into Paul’s passionate letter to the Galatians is a powerful truth that breaks down all human-made walls: in Christ, we are one.
This doesn’t mean we lose our cultural identity, personality, or biological distinctions. Rather, Paul is saying that none of these things grant someone greater or lesser standing before God. Christ has leveled the ground.
In ancient times, Jews often viewed Gentiles as outsiders, slaves had no rights, and women were rarely seen as equals. Paul boldly declares that the gospel undoes this hierarchy. Why? Because in Christ, all who believe share the same identity: child of God.
And this isn’t just a theological idea—it’s a call to action. The church should be the one place on earth where differences don’t divide. The same grace that saved you saved your neighbor. That means your worth doesn’t come from your race, role, or rank, but from your relationship with Jesus.
Reflection
Do I treat others as equals in Christ, or do I cling to invisible status markers?
Am I willing to see others through God’s eyes, even if they don’t look, talk, or live like me?
The cross didn’t just reconcile us to God; it also reconciled us to one another. Unity is not just a gift—it’s a responsibility.
Prayer/Blessing
Father God,
Thank You for making me one with others through Christ. Help me to live in the truth of Galatians 3:28—to treat others with dignity, to break down walls of pride or prejudice, and to value every believer as part of Your family. May my life reflect the unity You died to give us.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Call to Action
Look for an opportunity this week to cross a barrier—racial, generational, denominational, or economic. Sit with someone different from you and choose to connect as a fellow child of God. Post Galatians 3:28 somewhere visible as a daily reminder: we are one in Christ Jesus.
