He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Ecclesiastes 3:11New International Version (NIV)

Ecclesiastes 3:11 Devotional

God makes everything beautiful in its time and He has set eternity in our hearts

In Ecclesiastes 3:11, Solomon testified that God has made everything beautiful in its time, and He has set eternity in our hearts, he was pointing you to God’s timing that is nano-second perfect and our contemplation of eternity. Remember, God knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). He, therefore, has an overview of everything that concerns our lives.

First, we need to acknowledge that God’s timing is perfect. God’s perfect timing coupled with what He is doing in our lives leads to something beautiful. That is something good and admirable. And it’s no wonder that Paul in Romans 8:28 reveals that God works out all things for our good.

Consequently, this means that God’s timeline for you is dotted with both favorable and unfavorable changes. No wonder Peter, in 1 Peter 1:6-11, states that sufferings are temporary, but they have an eternal value.

Regardless, everything finally climaxes into absolute beauty, just like a finished painting. Because is in control of everything that happens in our lives.

Second, God has put an eternal perspective in your heart. This is what enables you and me to keep up with God’s eternal timeline. And we are also able to realize meaning in our lives because of Jesus Christ.

Remember, Jesus is the resurrection and life (John 11:25-26). Through Him, we are able to live meaningful lives.

Therefore, in as much as we cannot understand what God has done, we need to keep up with and work with His will for our lives. He is good and completely in control of everything.

Prayer/Blessing

Lord, I thank You for the beautiful and perfect time. I know that everything, in every season, is being worked by You for my good, even beauty. Help me be in sync with your seasons. This is my prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May God make everything beautiful in its time in your life. Amen.
