For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10New International Version (NIV)

Ephesians 2:10 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

We are God’s Handiwork

Ephesians 2:10 states “We are God’s handiwork“. This is according to Apostle Paul’s revelation in his letter to the believers in Ephesus.

Therefore, this revelation applies to us too. God wants you and me to know (or remind you and me) that as His handiwork (given that you are made in His image – Genesis 1:27), you are unique to Him (Psalm 8:4-5).

God saved you and me by His grace for His glory

Consequently, God saved (saved) you and me by His grace (Ephesians 2:4-5, 8) for His glory (good works or purpose). In fact, Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10 not only reveals the special care God took to make our lives but also to design the very ‘good’ works that we are supposed to do on this earth.

Sometimes religious people (folk) confuse good works. They believe we are saved by good works. But God clearly tells us that it is not through good works that we are saved.

This, therefore, means that God’s purpose (mission) for your life is why you are alive (Jeremiah 1:4-5 and Galatians 1:15) and saved. He saved you to serve Him. That is, God gifted you with salvation, and you are to gift Him (back) with service.

The impact of salvation

Therefore, salvation enables you to boast about (praise) God while service allows God to boast about (exalt) you (Matthew 25:21, 23). God will dot your service to Him with divine opportunities. These events, circumstances, or situations, such as recorded in Genesis 40 and Esther 2:21-23, will enable you to effectively deliver on your purpose.

Prayer/Blessing

Lord, I bless you for I am Your handiwork. I humbly pray that You reveal and lead me to the unique purpose that You prepared for me. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
