In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1New International Version (NIV)

Genesis 1:1 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

In the beginning

Genesis 1:1 states that “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. That is, the very first thing that God did was to create the heavens and the earth.

God created the heavens and the earth

Moreover, God created the heavens and the earth because there was chaos and darkness (Genesis 1:2). And God did it in the first four days that He was involved in creation.

Additionally, Isaiah 40:26 does explain that God created the universe by means of His “great power and mighty strength”. And God is the only Being referred to as the Creator in the Bible (Isaiah 42:5 and 45:18).

God created all other things

Thereafter, God, from the fifth day, created living creatures. He, therefore, created birds, fish (sea creatures), livestock, crawlers, wild animals, and lastly, mankind.

Foundation

Therefore, God created a foundation for the other creations in the heavens and the earth. And our lives cannot be successful without the laying of a good foundation, which only God can do – The foundation carries the rest of the building.

Consequently, a good foundation translates to a huge and long-lasting building. But a bad foundation results in the opposite.

Genesis

Additionally, the word Genesis means beginning. Therefore, the book of Genesis is a record of the beginnings of all that we know exists. Consequently, Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 is a summary statement of the beginnings of the heavens and the earth. And thereafter, everything on earth.

Therefore, Genesis is an indicator and reminder that God is a God of New Beginnings. Consequently, He is well able to bring order into your life because without Him in your life, there will be chaos and a lack of order.

Furthermore, God is Light. Therefore, when He enters a situation, darkness leaves. That is when God enters your situation, wickedness and all the negativity associated with it will have to leave. And this is because God brings illumination, sanctification, and healing to a situation.

Prayer/Blessing

Father in Heaven, I invite you into my life and my situation so that You can bring order into it. And this is my prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
