(Isaiah 26:3) You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Isaiah 26:3New International Version (NIV)

Isaiah 26:3 Devotional

God will keep you in perfect peace

Isaiah 26:3 states that perfect peace is a function of a steadfast mind, and a steadfast mind is a function of trusting in God. Therefore, trusting in God leads to a steadfast mind, which further leads to perfect peace.

Consequently, if you trust in God (Psalm 28:7 and 22:5), your mind will be faithful (Colossians 3:2 and Deuteronomy 11:18) to Him, and He will maintain you in perfect (complete) peace. For a steadfast mind is a firm and steady mind. A mind that doesn’t waver irrespective of the prevailing circumstances.

Remember, it is difficult to keep your mind steady on God in the world we currently live in. Our minds are constantly at work thinking about (figuring out) futuristic things like the next step to take.

But your trust in God is what will enable you to have a firm and unwavering mind. Because a steadfast mind is a foundation for peace.

Moreover, distraction is one of Satan’s strategies. He schemes to keep our minds focused on earthly things (worries and anxieties). Therefore, in the battle for our minds, Satan interferes with our trust in God and the perfect peace He has for those who trust in Him.

But when you put your mind to God, you prove that you trust in Him. And God is rewarded of those who trust in Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Therefore, God is calling you to a rest that is available in His presence. And what is amazing is that God’s peace has the dominant characteristic of surpassing all understanding. This is what Paul reveals to you and me in Philippians 4:7.

Prayer/Blessing

Lord, I thank You for promising to grant me Your perfect peace. I take hold of this promise and ask that You help me to experience this peace. For I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May your mind be steadfast in God. Amen.
