"I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

Jeremiah 32:27New International Version (NIV)

Jeremiah 32:27 Devotional

Nothing is too hard for the Lord

Jeremiah 32:27 tells us that “Nothing is too hard for the Lord because He is the God of all mankind”. Therefore, God’s power is limitless (infinite).

But when Jeremiah wrote this verse, Babylon’s army had besieged Jerusalem. He was shut up in the court of the prison for predicting that the Babylonians would take the city.

Additionally, God also showed Jeremiah that his cousin would offer him land. So when his cousin, Hanamel, visited him in prison and offered up his land to him, Jeremiah bought it. And in spite of knowing that the Babylonians would succeed in their conquest and that the title to his land would be useless, Jeremiah still bought the land.

Thereafter, Jeremiah offered up a prayer to gain understanding. He did not understand the inner details of the land transaction that he had completed.

Therefore, God replied to Jeremiah that “nothing was too hard for Him”. And Job, when he was in pain and distress, acknowledged that God can do all things; that no plan of His can be thwarted (Job 42:2).

God is powerful and mighty

Consequently, when God told Jeremiah that “nothing was too hard for Him”, He affirmed His power and might to Jeremiah. He is the same God who enabled Sarah, who was in her nineties, to bear a child (Genesis 18-21). Also, He is the God who made the sun stand still for Joshua to fight the Amorites (Joshua 10:12-14) and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-44).

When Mary wondered how she would be pregnant yet she was still a virgin, Gabriel reassured her by saying, “With God, nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37). These are the same words Jesus told His disciples when they wondered how God would save the “unsavable” (Matthew 19:23-26).

God and your hard situation

So God is able to help you in the situation that you consider too hard. He will answer the prayer you consider too big.

The Lord God is able to provide for you. He can also heal and strengthen you.

Finally, God is able to forgive the sin you consider too wicked to forgive.

Prayer

Lord, there is nothing too hard for You. With You all things are possible. I worship You in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Blessing

May you take your hard stuff to the Lord God. Amen.
