”God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.

Job 37:5 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)
God is Great
In Job 37:5, Elihu describes God’s greatness by using the phenomenon of thunder (nature) because “God is great“. He also portrays God as a doer of great things that man cannot understand even as he refers to Job’s predicament.
In other words, what God was doing in Job’s life was beyond his understanding. What God was doing wasn’t and wouldn’t make sense to him. It didn’t make sense also to his friends.
God’s great deeds
Therefore, in as much as God was doing a great thing in Job’s life, no one could see it, or understand it. Yet God had allowed things in his life to mold and shape him.
If the things we can see, like thunder, manifest the greatness of God, what about the things we cannot see? The things that He is doing behind our difficult circumstances?
Most times the difficult circumstance you may be in may make it difficult for you to see the greatness of God. However, if you could take some time to reflect on creation, then you would appreciate the greatness of God as revealed in your situation. After all, creation is the end product of chaos.
Remember, God is unlimited in understanding, unlike us men who are very limited in understanding. And Scripture confirms that His ways and thoughts are not our ways and thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
He will therefore allow difficult things into your life to mold and shape you into the image of Jesus. He will use these to change you into the person you are meant to be. And to get you to where you are meant to be like He did for Job.
Therefore, God uses all things to change a person into the person he is meant to be (Romans 8:28). This is usually beyond the understanding of men, yet what God is doing is always marvelous.
Prayer
Lord, open my inner eyes so that I may be able to appropriate Your greatness through creation, and particularly through my difficult moments. Grant me the grace to hold in trusting You and Your process.
May this then lead me to praise You for Your greatness in my life! Amen.
