”If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Ask for the Holy Spirit
The theme of Luke 11:13 is asking for the Holy Spirit. And the context of the same is prayer.
Jesus had just taught the disciples how to pray. He had taught them using a prayer that is popularly known as the Lord’s prayer (Luke 11:2-4). And He had followed His teaching with encouragement.
He encouraged His disciples to pray persistently. The illustration He used (Luke 11:5-8) showed them that persistent prayers are answered.
Thereafter, He assured them that when they would ask, they would receive an answer (Luke 11:10). He, therefore, told them that God (the Father) would give them the Holy Spirit if they asked for the same.
He based His statement on the fact that earthly fathers, who are evil, give their children what they ask for. They don’t give them what they have not asked for. And this is the case with God our Father.
He will not give you what you have not asked for. God is good when compared to our earthly (evil) fathers. He will give you what you ask for.
Therefore, an important element of your prayer lifestyle is asking for the Holy Spirit in its various forms. Note that, the Holy Spirit was promised by God, to be fully fulfilled by Him, in order to enable you as a Christian to live a fruitful, victorious Christian life (discipleship).
When it comes to the gift of the Holy Spirit, there is no limitation. God can gift you His Spirit. All you need to do is to properly perceive Him, and ask for the Spirit!
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, I thank You for the precious promise of Your Spirit. I thank You for the spiritual blessings that come with receiving the Holy Spirit into my life. Therefore, I worship You in Jesus Christ’s Name, Amen.
