For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

Luke 8:17 Devotional

Nothing will be hidden

Nothing will be hidden” (Luke 8:17) is a double-edged sword where wrongs are involved. And depending on your situation, you may either get unsettled, or you may get a ray of hope.

Therefore, on the one hand, if you’re doing something you shouldn’t be doing (wrong for this matter), then this verse will be very unsettling. On the other, if something was done against you (that is you were wronged), then this verse might bring a little hope that justice is coming, sooner or later.

Bring the hidden to light

Consequently, I would encourage you to bring your own hidden (secret) “stuff” to the light. It is the best (less painful) way of bringing hidden things to light.

Personally, I would prefer this way. It’s better than someone else unexpectedly shining a light on your hidden “stuff”. Or in some cases, God pushes you to bring your hidden things to light.

But either way, by means of confession or by virtue of being finally caught or exposed, light always comes to expose the darkness in our lives. And the Bible declares that God is light (John 1). Meaning that when you invite Jesus into your life, He will expose the wrongs to you first.

However, when you fail to deal with the same, He will allow your wrongs to be exposed. For where the light shines, darkness is expelled.

Redemption

Therefore, when you are in the kingdom of God, the exposure of wrong brings an opportunity for redemption (and restoration). And that’s why healing becomes possible, especially where only sickness previously reigned (Ephesians 5:13).

Choose light

Consequently, choose light over darkness, and the resultant healing over sickness. Note that, this choice also applies to the mysteries that are contained in the word of God. Concerning these, the same will be revealed to us and others as the light of Christ shines in our lives and as we shine the same to others.

Prayer/Blessing

Lord, I am just human. Therefore, help me to always choose light over darkness. This is my prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
