”Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
Mark 10:27New International Version (NIV)
Mark 10:27 Devotional
All things are possible with God
Mark 10:27 makes it clear that All things are possible with God because His power for saving mankind is far superior to any known or unknown power. In other words, when it comes to the salvation of men, nothing is impossible with God (Matthew 19:26).
Nevertheless, Mark chapter 10 verse 27 is the ending verse for the passage that begins at Mark 10:17. In this passage is recorded the story of a rich young man who had a very interesting encounter with Jesus.
Therefore, according to Mark, when this wealthy young man saw Jesus setting out, he ran to Him, knelt before Him, and asked Him what he had to do to inherit eternal life – At the time, Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem, to be crucified. And Jesus responded by highlighting to him a set of Mosaic commands, which he claimed to have observed since he was younger.
Consequently, Jesus told him to sell all his property and give the proceeds to the poor. But because the young man had great possessions, he went away sad.
Therefore, Jesus turned to his disciples and told them that the wealthy will find it difficult to enter God’s kingdom. That it “will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God”.
Then the disciples were left wondering who could be saved. And that’s why Jesus told them that “With man, this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God”.
Salvation
Therefore, to men, salvation looks impossible. But God can save any man. And Saul of Tarsus, who became Paul, is a good example.
Moreover, for you and me to enter God’s kingdom, we must be willing to let go of the things of this world. These are the things that could potentially hinder us from entering the kingdom of God.
More than Salvation
Also, notice that Jesus said: “all things are possible with God”. That is, nothing is impossible with God.
Therefore, anyone can seek and find God, and experience the realm of possibilities through His power.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, I exalt You for the fact that all things are possible with You. Indeed, You are Mighty to save. I worship and thank You in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
May you turn to God with your “impossible”, and let Him show you that there’s nothing impossible. Amen.
