Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it

Mark 11:24 states that “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it” because it will be yours. That is, be assured and convinced (Hebrews 11:1) that you have what you have prayed for, believed God for, or expected according to God’s will. And this is faith!

Belief (faith) is a crucial element in your relationship with God. Imagine that someone gave you a cheque to deposit in your bank account. Hopefully, you would thank them immediately, not when you receive the cash. This is because the cheque is a sure promise. It is as good as having cash.

Prayer is the essential tool of communication in this relationship. It enables you to present your requests before God.

But examining the context reveals that Jesus made this statement in relation to the fig tree that He had cursed earlier on, and which had withered (Mark 11:12-14). When Jesus cursed the fig tree, it had no fruit. It was fruitless.

He, therefore, showed that Israel had become spiritually barren before God. This is because the Israelites were religious on the outside, but in reality, they were not producing the expected fruit of righteousness. Their hearts were very far from God.

Consequently, in Mark 11:20-25, Jesus taught His disciples a lesson on prayer and faith. Thus, He made His disciples appreciate the fact that fruitfulness is the product of faith and prayer.

Therefore, you must examine your Christian life, and check if you too are budding with leaves, exuding the impression of holiness and salvation, but in reality, not producing any fruit. You are required to produce the fruit of righteousness.

Prayer/Blessing

So, take time to pray to God about your purpose and the respective fruitfulness.
