”“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Mark 9:23 Devotional
Everything is possible for the believer
Mark 9:23 states that “Everything is possible for the believer” because of their faith in God. And this is why Jesus revealed that with faith, we can remove a mountain (see Matthew 17:20).
Therefore, what we think is an impossibility, is very much possible for those who have faith. This is because Jesus is reliable.
The context of this verse recorded a man who went to Jesus looking for healing for his sick and suffering son. He was desperate and out of options. In fact, he had tried everything and gone to everyone for help, but no one could heal his son. Even the disciples had not healed him.
So, when the father heard that Jesus was in the vicinity, he went to Him so that he could heal his son. Jesus had just come down off the mountain to this desperate father, his demon-possessed son, ineffective disciples, and an amazed crowd.
Because of being disappointed before, maybe he didn’t want to expect too much or have high hopes. He, therefore, asked Jesus “if He could heal his son” because he was in doubt. Maybe he assured himself that it wouldn’t hurt him to ask Jesus to heal his son since he had nothing to lose.
Consequently, Jesus declared to him that He could heal his son. And He did heal him.
But why had the nine disciples failed? The Bible records that they had been careless in their personal spiritual walks and had neglected prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29).
The authority that Jesus had given them was effective only when exercised by faith. They had to cultivate their faith through spiritual discipline and devotion (Romans 4:20-22).
Prayer/Blessing
All you need to do is believe that with God all things are possible, and all things will be possible for you!
