Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."

You Can Take the Land

Numbers 13:30 informs you and me that as followers of and believers in Christ, we have the ability to take the Land. When we receive Jesus into our lives, God positions us at the edge of His Land.

But what is the Land? First, the Land is God’s promise for you or your generations.

Remember, God promised to give Abraham’s descendants the land of Canaan (Genesis 12:1-3). And thereafter, God reminded Abraham and his descendants of the same. Whenever He did this, God expanded the promise so that it included more details.

Secondly, the Land is God’s purpose or call for you and your life (Genesis 12:1-3). This, therefore, means that there is potential to be realized – you can realize your full potential. And this is what Israel had to do.

Therefore, when God’s people stood at the brink of the Promised Land, the majority of the spies (ten out of the twelve) said that “they couldn’t take it”. But Caleb stepped up and quieted them by saying that they needed to “go up and take the Land. He assured them that they could certainly do it”. And this was because Caleb’s confidence was in the God who had promised the Land to them.

Faith

In Caleb, we, therefore, see a picture of faith. Faith that believes in the Word (Promise) of God. One that trusts the power of God. And one that is willing to obey God’s Word because of knowing that God will show his power on your behalf.

So, believe that ‘you can take your land’ through Christ (Philippians 4:13 and Matthew 19:26 (Mark 9:23)). When you start this way you will be halfway done.

Thereafter, commit to doing it. And don’t give yourself room for quitting or making excuses. And you will be successful in possessing God’s promises for you.

God’s rest is the New Testament equivalent of entering the Promised Land (Hebrews 4:1-2, 11).

Prayer/Blessing

Lord, I thank You that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I look forward to greater exploits in Your Name. And I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May you have the faith in God to go up and take possession of your promises. Amen.
