”As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.

Proverbs 27:19 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)
One’s life reflects the heart
Proverbs 27:19 states that “One’s life reflects the heart“. Because, when you look into the surface of water or a mirror, it will give you a reflection of yourself. That image will be a faithful reproduction of who you are – at least what your face looks like (you can trust what you see in that image).
This is the case with your heart, which reflects your life. That is, the way you and I live is an exact replica of what fills our hearts. Each of us betrays what is really in our hearts by what we say and do.
Where we spend our time, what we put our hands to, how we behave, how we spend money, etcetera, all testify to what has taken up residence in our hearts (Matthew 6:21). No wonder Proverbs 4:23 advises you to “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Unfortunately, many guard (hide) the state of their hearts. But this is impossible for any length of time. Eventually, it’s going to come out… one way or another.
Therefore, you have to fill your heart with God’s word and allow the Holy Spirit to fill it with God’s love. Then, and only then, will your life reflect God’s love, compassion, and holiness. Because your heart is limited by your beliefs – your words, actions, attitudes, and situations line up with your beliefs. Beliefs are shaped by God’s word.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord God, forgive me for not always being a true reflection of You. I have not prioritized Your Word and Your Spirit in my daily life. I am sorry, Lord; please forgive me.
I, therefore, ask that You mold me and make me into the character that is a true reflection of You, Lord. Help me to keep my priorities in the proper order. May others see You and Your grace in me, Lord.
This is my humble prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
