as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:12New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 103:12 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

He Removed Our Transgressions

Psalm 103:12 reveals that “He Removed Our Transgressions“. That is, God, removed your transgressions.

Therefore, this is a devotion of praise to a gracious and loving God. A God who is forgiving of those who seek the forgiveness of their sins (1 John 1:9).

God’s forgiveness of his sinning children

Coincidentally, Psalm 103:12 is within verses 7 to 12 which form a unit that focuses on God’s forgiveness of His sinning children. You should praise God because the phrase “as far as the east is from the west” points to a distance or span of infinite space. This is how far your past sins are from God.

Furthermore, the east is in one direction, and the west is opposite. And unlike north and south which meet at the poles, east and west never meet. Therefore, no matter how far you travel east, you will never reach a point at which your next step must be westward.

Similarly, when God forgives you, He really and truly forgives you. He literally removes your sins from you. Consequently, God puts your sins as far as possible to imagine or think.

This, therefore, means that, once your sins have been removed from you, you will never be held accountable for them. God will never bring them up again. That is, they will never come back to haunt us.

God is merciful and slow to anger

In other words, God is merciful and slow to anger. This is why He has a provision or capacity to forgive your sins. And when He has forgiven you, your fellowship with Him is restored.

Therefore, when the apostle Paul wrote about there being “no condemnation” in detail in Romans 8:1, he was literally revealing what can become your reality.

Prayer

Father in heaven, I have transgressed against You. But I praise and glorify You for Your abounding goodness and mercy, and Your bountiful grace and faithfulness towards me. Your Word tells me that Your mercies endure forever, and they’re new every morning. Please remove my transgressions from me. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Blessing

May you take this to heart and seek this reality for yourself. Amen.
