”Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Psalm 143:8 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love
Psalm 143:8 starts with the phrase “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love” because mornings are special times of the day. No wonder David longed to experience God’s faithfulness and love each morning.
He, therefore, expected God to speedily answer his prayer in the morning. He also wanted God to direct him on the way that he was to go. And David’s desires were anchored on God’s unfailing love.
Therefore, David ended this verse by confessing that he put his trust in God. He also confessed that he had fully surrendered his life to God. And David’s confession was based on the fact that God is faithful.
Penitential Psalm
Moreover, Pslam 143 is one of the seven Penitential Psalms. In these Psalms, the Psalmists would express sorrow for their sin (verse 2) and then progress to describing the affliction they found themselves in (verses 3-4).
Finally, the Psalmists would end with specific requests to God (verses 7-12). This was their way of expressing their trust in God.
Trusting God
Therefore, David reminded himself that God is trustworthy. That he could count on God’s mercies in spite of his sin which had created a rift between him and God. After all, God had been faithful to him in the past and had helped him when he found himself in similar circumstances.
It is, therefore, no wonder that in verse 7, David wrote that he had appealed to God to “Answer him quickly because his spirit was failing”, which could have been due to guilt. He also asked God “not to hide His face from him or he would be like those who go down to the pit”.
You can trust God with your life
You can also trust God at this moment with your future. Even if you have sinned against Him, and your guilt is preventing you from returning to Him, the Psalmist’s prayer should be an encouragement to you. That God’s love never fails, and therefore, a prayer you can make to God in the night.
Additionally, the Psalmist who wrote Psalm 30, in verse 5a revealed that “God’s anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime”. And in verse 5b, he stated that “weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning”.
Finally, the author of the Book of Lamentations, in chapter 3 verse 22 stated that “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail”. And in verse 23, he stated that “God’s compassions are new every morning; great is His faithfulness”.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord God, my hope is in You. Even though I am guilt-ridden, I surrender my life to You.
Cleanse me and show me the path that I should take. Because You will lead me away from evil, and I will experience Your protection and deliverance.
Father, this is my prayer of hope in You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
