”Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
Psalm 145:13New International Version (NIV)
Psalm 145:13 Devotional
God is Trustworthy and Faithful
Psalm 145:13 declares that “the Lord is trustworthy and faithful in His promises and doings respectively“. His trustworthiness in keeping His (thousands of) promises has been consistently demonstrated and tested since the beginning (creation). A careful reading of Matthew 1:1-17 confirms this exact attribute of God.
Moreover, the Psalmist declares that God’s dominion is multigenerational. This is because He is in control as His dominion is eternal. And so is His kingdom.
Therefore, no power can match God’s power. And this is why He is trustworthy and faithful. In Hebrews 13:5, God reveals that He will never leave nor forsake you. He will not cease to care for you.
Waiting on God
Yet waiting on God can be so hard. His timing may feel off sometimes. You may even feel like you misheard God.
But such feelings and thoughts should just remain that. And they don’t mean that you don’t trust God. It’s just your honesty about your state at that particular time.
Therefore, reflecting on God’s past dealings with you will prove to you that God’s timing is always perfect. And hopefully, you’ll become grateful that God did it at the time He did. Had He intervened earlier, or in the manner that you expected, then most likely you would have gotten into trouble later.
God’s promises
God’s promises are His commitment to you. They are His guarantee to do what He has said or says (Genesis 28:12-15).
Therefore, continue standing on His promises because He is a faithful God. God never breaks His word (Numbers 23:19, Joshua 23:14, and 2 Corinthians 1:20). He is the ultimate promise keeper; He will do it for you.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, You are indeed trustworthy! Help me stand on Your trustworthy promises. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
May you praise Him for being trustworthy and faithful. Amen.
