He Will Cover You (Under His Wings)
Psalm 91:4 promises that God will cover you. And He will do it for you in a world that is full of trouble and sorrow. Under the cover of His wings, you will surely find refuge. He will shield and protect you because He is Jehovah Elohim – the Lord (God), the Creator, Mighty and Strong One.
David uses the imagery of a hen covering her chicks under her wings to protect them from harm, the elements, and predators. He uses this literary device to give us a great sense of security and hope in God.
Therefore, God covering us with His wings enables us to nestle close to Him for comfort and safety. And His faithfulness in covering us provides a shield from the threats we face in our daily lives, be they spiritual, physical, or physiological.
Remember, the devil is hell-bent, and constantly so, on advancing evil in our lives (John 10:10 and 1 Peter 5:8). But God is our shield and strong defender against evil.
Therefore, if you are in need of refuge, do not look any further. Trust the Lord to be your safety (your refuge and fortress). You will find all the protection you need under His arms.
God promises to protect and keep you away (far) from:
- the terror of the night,
- the arrow that flies by the day,
- the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, and
- the plague that destroys at midday.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, I thank You for being my refuge and fortress. I will rest secure in Your arms. Therefore, I thank You in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
May you find the refuge that you need in the Lord. Amen.
