”Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

The Lord Jesus Christ
Romans 13:14 states that the Lord Jesus Christ is the better cloth between light and darkness. He is the garment that you ought to choose to wear (Ephesians 6:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:8). And you wear him by faith.
When you dress in a uniform, you can be easily distinguished in a crowd. People can also identify you with a certain unique group of people – Christians. This also applies to your fellow Christians – they are able to identify and connect with you. Therefore, Jesus Christ is your identity, both inwardly and outwardly.
Consequently, Paul implies union with Christ with the end result being Christ’s character becoming ours. Therefore, Christ controls our thinking and actions.
Putting on Christ is critical because, one, these times are evil (2 Timothy 3:1). Two, He will soon return for His own (Matthew 24:36-44 and Revelation 22:7). Wearing Jesus enables you to live a life that pleases Him and prepares you for His second coming (Matthew 25:1-13).
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, I choose to clothe myself with You today. Help me wear you right as I wait for Your second coming. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Prayer to Receive and Believe in Jesus Christ
Lord God, I am not clothed with Jesus Christ, therefore, unprepared for His second coming. Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner who is separated from you. I am truly sorry and would like to turn away from my sinful past to you. Please forgive me of my sins and keep me away from temptation and sin.
Now, I believe that your only Son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is alive. I invite you Jesus to come into my life and become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey you, and to do your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
