At Peace with God: The Gift of Justification
Many search for peace in relationships, in careers, and in their hearts. And according to Paul’s statement in Romans 5:1, true peace begins with God. It’s therefore not a feeling that comes and goes with circumstances.
So let’s reflect on how this one verse offers assurance, hope, and a deep well of gratitude for every believer.
Justification
The word “justified” means being declared righteous by God. It is God’s legal declaration that our sins are forgiven and we stand blameless before Him, not because we earned it, but because we placed our faith in Jesus Christ.
Peace with God
That justification results in peace with God. Before Christ, we were at odds with Him, separated by sin. But through faith, the war is over. We’re no longer under wrath, we’re welcomed as children.
This peace isn’t just an emotion. It’s a restored relationship, a settled status. You don’t have to wonder where you stand with God.
If your faith is in Christ, you are fully accepted, eternally loved, and completely forgiven. And when we grasp this truth, anxiety, shame, and fear lose their grip. We can approach life with confidence and calm, knowing God is not our adversary but our Father.
