But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:57New International Version (NIV)

1 Corinthians 15:57 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

Victory through Christ

In 1 Corinthians 15:57, Paul wrote to the Corinthian church to remind, confirm and reassure them that the resurrection of Christ from the dead assured them of every form of victory in their daily lives. That regardless of what would stand between them and the victory of Christ, or what would come against them in the form of opposition, they were assured of victory. He had already won victory for them.

However, the Corinthians seemed to have forgotten the victory that Christ had won for them. It appears there were those in the church who began to question whether or not there was the resurrection of the dead. Questions that Paul effectively addressed in his letter to them.

The resurrection of Jesus has a major impact on how we live our lives as Christians. That’s why thankfulness to God is what you and I need to have, for the victory that is ours in Christ. A victory that assures us of daily victorious living in Christ.

We already have victory over sin (Romans 6:14), guilt, and death through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:3 and Colossians 2:13-15). He died on the cross for you and me.

When you make Him your Lord and Saviour, then you will have eternal life and live with Him after death (Hebrews 9:27 and Revelation 20:11-15). This will take place in heaven.

Therefore, you are in a fixed fight (wrestle) or struggle! Your victory, which is guaranteed and worth celebrating, was won by Christ. He did win it for you over two thousand (2,000) years ago.

Prayer

Lord God, I thank You for the victory that You won for me through Jesus Christ. I exalt You for being a very loving God. In Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer to Receive and Believe in Jesus Christ

Father, I want to have the victory that you provide through Christ. Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner separated from you.

I am truly sorry and want to turn away from my sinful past. Also, I give it to you.

Please forgive me of my sins and keep me away from temptation and sin. I believe Your only Son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is alive.

Jesus, I invite You into my life. May You become the Lord of my life.

I welcome You to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey you, and to do your will for the rest of my life.

In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
