”The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14 Devotional
The Word became flesh
John 1:14 tells us that the Word, also known as Jesus Christ (John 1:1), became flesh (Philippians 2:7, Hebrews 2:14, and Colossians 2:9). And Jesus did this in order to reconcile us back to God. That is, He became human (incarnated) so that He could reconcile us back to God.
Therefore, God, true to His Name Emmanuel, that is, God with us, gave up His infinity, invisibility, and eternity. Consequently, He became finite, and visible, and entered time so He could save man and restore fellowship with him.
Moreover, only human beings can exercise authority on earth – the authority on earth is exercisable only in human form (Genesis 1:26, John 5:27, and Psalm 115:16). Therefore, the Word (Jesus) had to become flesh to save us from sin and its deadly effects. This was the only way God could do it.
Prayer/Blessing
Lord, I thank You for the gift of salvation. I surrender to Your Spirit to lead me all of my days. And this is my prayer in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer to Receive and Believe in Jesus Christ
Lord Jesus, I thank You that You took on the human form to save me! Therefore, I confess that I am a sinner who is separated from you. I am truly sorry and would like to turn away from my sinful past to you. Please forgive me of my sins and keep me away from temptation and sin.
My belief is that your only Son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is alive. I invite you Jesus to come into my life and become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey you, and to do your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
