He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

Mark 4:39 Devotional

Jesus rebuked the wind

Mark 4:39 records when Jesus rebuked the wind. And when Jesus did so, He and His disciples were sailing in the Sea of Galilee, and a storm had arisen.

Therefore, while Jesus and His disciples were on a boat in the sea of Galilee, a fierce storm arose. And when the storm arose, Jesus’ disciples became terrified.

But interestingly, Jesus slept through the storm. He did not at any point wake up – that is before His disciples woke Him.

Consequently, Jesus’ fear-stricken disciples woke Him up in the midst of the storm. And immediately He got up, He rebuked the wind, and it became completely calm.

Tell God of your storm

So whatever storm you are in right now, tell God your fears. God is able to calm your storm down.

Additionally, the way of telling God, that is, asking God for help or intervention, does not matter. What matters is that you tell God of your fears in the storm.

Moreover, God will allay your fears, for He is in the boat with you. After all, He is known as Immanuel, which means God with us.

Therefore, Jesus is always with His own people. He is with them in all situations.

God will answer you when you call on Him

Nevertheless, Jesus will answer when you call on Him. Just as He calmed that terrifying storm for the disciples, He has the power to rebuke the trouble in your heart and mind. He will calm the storm.

Therefore, in the middle of the storms of life, we must remember that Jesus has authority over all things. And He is seated at the right hand of God, from where He reigns over all things.

Jesus, therefore, calms us because He is in ultimate control and has our final destination secured! And this is the assurance that is in the Bible – Psalm 33:9, 102:17, and Hebrews 4:15-16.

Prayer/Blessing

Lord, I exalt You for your assurance to answer my prayer. I thank You in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Are you in a physical or emotional storm? Then tell Jesus of your fears. He will surely calm the storm.

Remember, the way of asking for help does not matter. What matters is that you ask for help. And He will rebuke the wind for you.

All that you and I need is faith in Him.
