I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 139:14 Devotional (Daily Bible Verse)

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Psalm 139:14 states that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. This, therefore, confirms that you are God’s masterpiece as far as creation is involved.

You are valuable before God

Consequently, you are valuable before God. This is because the words “fearfully and wonderfully made” mean God-fearing (deep respect and reverence for God) and uniquely made.

But how can this not be?

Creation

The Creation account in Genesis reveals that you and I were created in the image of God. And God emphasizes this by declaring that you are His treasured possession (Deuteronomy 7:6), and the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8) (Deuteronomy 32:10).

Therefore, God made you in this manner for a very important reason (Jeremiah 29:11 and Ephesians 2:10). He also made you in this way because He wanted to walk with you in the journey of your purpose (Psalm 56:9 and Joshua 1:9).

Consequently, whether you are heartbroken, feeling rejected, or any other, you are God’s treasured occupation. This is the reality that motivated David to praise God. He, therefore, did so because of how God had made him.

Praise God

Like David, the Psalmist of this Psalm, you too had better be motivated to praise God for how He made you. And David is praising God because he is overwhelmed by the majesty of a God who could create him in such an intricate and unique way.

Therefore, God is worthy of all your praise. You are the product of a divine being and process.

Never believe the lie that you are anything less than the most wonderful/amazing reflection of our glorious God. Remember, you are made in His image and likeness.

Prayer/Blessing

May you give God thanks today, for you are truly fearfully and wonderfully made. Amen.
